Default cam swap on my brother car down on power

well last week me and my brother changed cam in his 95 trans am. we put cc503 cam and 918 springs. car runs but power is so down.. car probably wouldnt run a 15 second 1/4 mile and hard to start when warm starter drags to crank it.. we tear it apart today and double checked timing dots. they was dead on. we put a new opti spark and wires on it. that didn't help.. we know it need a tune but it should run better than this and could someone please help.. I don't know any codes. it don't have a light on. thanks

Stop running it until you get a tune for the cam. Try Madtuner.com

Lack of tune definitely wouldn't yield a 15+ second 1/4. Something is wrong. Does it break up at all, ie misfire? Trans slipping? Could be a lot of different things.

I take it this means the starter is slower to crank? And this only started happening after the install?

Sounds like a timing issue to me. Either cam or opti is is installed wrong or rockers are too tight.

It's a m6.. doubled checked value lash. I set it to half a round preload.. and its hard to get timing off Two times on these cars.. could it be tps or fuel rail? My brother washed intake off in parts cleaner.

I'd eliminate the tune issues first, should have done that in the first place. THEN see how it run and see if there's still issues.

I'd be a little concerned over the starter dragging only after the cam was installed.

Check to make sure the opti is aligned. In a pinch, I had to get an opti from Advance Auto once for someones car I was working on, and the opti I bought barely had a notch on the splines. It wasn't enough to "interfere" like it was supposed to, and I unknowingly installed it out of time. Ran like total **** until I figured out what it was. Just something to keep in mind.

I'd want to re-check your spark plug wire routing. A pair of crossed wires could cause issues like this, including the slow cranking (spark at wrong time in combustion cycle).
