Default Needles on dash not keeping up with speed tach

So inconsistantly, I have noticed that during hard acceleration both my tachometer and speedometer hang for a brief moment in the upper RPMs then catch back up.

Anyone got any ideas what this might be or anyone else seem this before?

More than likely, your car is out accelerating the motors that drive those gauges. You will have to upgrade them to fix this.

What would cause this? How would I "upgrade them"? Do you have a link to a "how to" thread or where I can get parts?

probably a loose connection on the back of the gauges or at the pcm.

Well, that would be a welcomed simple fix. I'll try it, but as mentioned its inconsistant, and only seen at hard acceleration.

Anyone else have any thoughts or seen this before?

He's talking about the servo motors that drive the needles.

I've never heard of them hanging like this, these servo motors either work, get stuck at one spot or don't work at all.

I doubt the servos are the cause. Possibly bad grounds could cause intermittent electronic gremlins like this.
