The tranny to have?
Ok, so when my 93 t-56 blows up what tranny does everyone replace it with so they have no more troubles! Like the stock rear end goes and a s60 gets put in, what about the tranny? What about the bell housing?

T56......
IIRC, the 93 does not have a T56. It's a slightly different transmission.
A T56 is a solid transmission, and easily modified to damn near bullet proof. Hell, stock it's very very strong. Low maintenance and easy to rebuild.

Oh for sure! I am putting a s60 in there. But I need to get this transmission figured out. What year t-56 do I need and what all do I do to it to upgrade it? Is there a kit?

Correction, the M29(Trans Am and Camaro) and M28 (Camaro only) 6 speed manual transmissions are T56's with different gear ratios and a different reluctor wheel for the VSS.
So you have a version of the T56, although the M28 is rated to 360ft/lbs and the M29 is rated to 400 ft/lbs, while the 1994+ T56's are rated to 450 ft/lbs. I'm not sure why (maybe gear material??).
Maybe call Tick or D&D and ask them (let us know what you find out of you do).
The nice thing is with the M29 and M28, you could run 3.42s and be more like 3.73 or 4.10 ratios.
I say keep your current transmission and build it up, new bearings, syncros, steel shift fork, short throw shifter, clutch, etc. and enjoy.
Tick or D&D can hook you up. The transmission you have is a great transmission and very hard to beat with just about anything else for the price, especially since you already have one.

Check out these links. Basically a Good syncro kit with billet Slider keys and a steel 3-4 shift fork. I have built a few like this and they hold up well, shift well and are forgiving with missed gears. Done one about a month ago and he added bronze fork pads. I couldn't tell any difference driving. There is a bunch of write ups on how to go through the T56. I wouldn't spend the $750-1000 for the different model. How much power you talking it to hold?
BTW I seen a LS1 6 speed run a low 8 pass this weekend at the LSfest, Talk about nasty!

I also have a 93 and worry about it. Tick will not warren the 93 t56s because they are inherently weaker.
I contacted tremec about an lt1 magnum t56 because I saw something on their website, and unfortunately they released that info prematurely, not happening in the near future. (Unless enough of us express interest)
Anyway, my plan is to beat on mine till it expires, then buy a 94-97 eBay trans, then send it to tick.
