Default Ok so now what?

My machinist want my gear ratio and tire size. What do I tell him? My rear end is going to be s60 with 3:73's (because I have a 93) and my transmission is staying in I'm just buying a kit for it.

Did you ask why? What exactly is this machinist doing? BTW, 26" is stock tire height, so must be factored in if you want to supply all details.

Oh lol I thought he was saying like my rim size lol sorry dude thought you were cracking a joke, how do I determine my gear ratio? He said he want to make sure my setup will work?? I don't think he realizes I just want him to do the work and install what I bring him?? You guys are building this car, I'm just taking advice and applying it haha

So I take it the machinist is going to install the cam? What's the cam profile?

You got three choices:

1. Tell your machinist that your going with 26" tires and 3.73 gears and install your f'ing parts;

2. Tell the machinist to mind his damn business and install your f'ing parts;

3. Take the car elsewhere.

Personally, if he can't just do the work I hired him to do, I'd do a combination of #'s 2 and 3. But then.....I'm just a hostile, pushy SOB .

Is he also putting in the gears and stall for you? I can see those questions being relevant if that is the case, but if he's just building the motor then there's no reason for him to know. I don't know what kind of output that particular LE package promises. Depending on if you want to get best results of this at the track or if it just for street should depict what gearing you use. If you want to get best results then research those who've installed this same package and see what their track results and dyno graphs look like. You can also ask LE where the cam is supposed to peak in the RPM band. You want to gear the car to where peak hp is right around the RPM where you cross the traps.
Can you say what your cam profile is going to be or is it super secret? No one can really tell you what gears/stall to run without that info.

Edit- One more thing. You need to establish a good relationship with your builder. Being a douchebag to your builder by telling him his questions aren't any of his business won't get you anywhere. You establish a relatoinship with your builder means the possibility of more care being exercised with the building of your engine. You start being a dick then why should he care whether or not your **** blows up minutes after it is ran...

He could be asking because he might be trying to select a cam for you based on speed across the traps expected. If he's not picking the cam, or building your trans, picking your stall, installing your gears, then tell him super swamped 44s and 2 1/2 ton axles, he wil go what? And you go what does it matter, here's a beer.

Probably well meaning but ignorant.
LT1 likes compression and has different duration requirements compared to a regular SBC.

So when I order the rotating assembly and drop it off to him and he bores the block and does all I want him to do to it and he Installs the rotating assembly, then I drop him off my heads and cam from Lloyd what's next? What should I buy next? Like after the builder builds it I'm taking it to my mechanic who is going to install it, my mechanic isn't pulling the old motor until the new one shows up simply because he does t want my car holding up one of his bays. What parts are transferable from my stock motor to this one? Can I have a list of parts in the order I should order then? Like the throttle body I am looking for already (I missed the as&m on here&#128532 I know I need 42lb injectors but I have no idea where to start or what brand. A list would really be awesome and kinda put everything in perspective!
Thanks again everyone!

Pretty much all of them.

That having been said, the performance upgrades I'd have on my stroker (and I've have four strokers in my two Impalas and one Caprice):

1. 52mm Throttle Body
2. 1.6 ratio steel roller rockers....like Comp Ultra Pro-magnums
3. Long Tube headers w/hi-flo cats
4. High flow cold air intake
5. 30LB or 36LB fuel injectors
6. Properly sized head gaskets to bring 'quench' to .035"
7. PCM tune

BTW.....what Compression Ratio will your engine have?

KW

Hey thanks! Well as far as the compression ratio, I'm not exactly sure. I don't plan on on forced induction. Down the road I may spray it but not anytime soon. So what should it be I guess? And how do I go about making it a certain ratio?
