Default LT-4 Opti cleaning?

Ok im finishing up my LT-4 long block and I have an MSD cap and rotor kit. The 2 shaft o-rings disintegrated but it looks like the kit includes them, thank goodness.

The problem is the optical rotor and housing is hosed in oil. What can I use to safely clean it? Ive searched the Google's but can't get any answers? WTF?

Here is what it looks like:

Search the forum for “optidoctor” or message “berrington1” on ebay. He just rebuilt my optispark and from what I can tell, knows everything about them. He offered me advice via ebay messaging even though I had not bought his rebuild service yet. He is knowledgeable and seems willing to answer questions. To me it was worth the $300.

It works fine and only had 56k miles on it. I just want to clean it up before putting this $175 MSD cap on it. Lol

I get that, I’m saying he may tell you how to do it without screwing it up. That disc and sensor are sensitive.

FWIW when I clean mine I lay the disc on a paper plate and wipe clean with a Kleenex & alcohol. I use electrical contact cleaner sprayed on QTips and or Kleenex for the optical sensor. With the Kleenex I fold it over a few times, spray some cleaner on it and pull it through the optical sensor slot. I completely disassemble the Opti except shaft & bearing. Easy work just sitting at table. Use a large roll of tape as a stand to sit Opti on

Ok so you don't use compressed air or spray cleaner directly on anything?

Compressed air is fine. I don't spray anything directly on it. Just the Q tip and kleenex

You can also get some electrical terminal cleaner that may work well. It's from the CRC (Brak-leen) company. I've used it before, it's a very fast drying cleaner that's very similar to Brak-leen itself and through the years I've actually used Brak-leen to clean electrical parts but never an Opti.
