Default Electric Water Pump

How well does the electric water pump operate in comparison to the cam driven pump for street driving? I understand the implications and advantages of the electric pump at the track, but how efficient is it on the street? Thank You in advance for your responses.

I found my car to run about 10* cooler with the EWP, at low speeds it is flowing more water than the stock pump, in the higher RPMs obviously the cam driven pump will flow more due to it spinning more....

I usually run CSR EWPs but I picked up a Mez in a trade to I put it on this 97, we'll see how it works, but it should work the same.

There are tons of street DD cars running the EWP so I see no problems.

I just put a CSR electric water pump on my car. No problems at all. Follow this installation guide, and wire it up with a led light like he did so you'll know its running.

CSR can be had the cheapest from Scoggin Dickey ---->
$145ish plus shiping, they just went up dang it?!!?!? they were 130ish.

I have to think the Summit pump is just a unlabeled Mez but dont know that for sure.

You will be buying just the pump, you will have to source the 30 amp relay, fuse, and LED. Local Advance or Auto Zone has that stuff. If you need some good install instructions check out: http://ken.lowrance.com/

Thanks for the info. I will look into the different types of pumps, but I will be switching to the electric pump soon.

Mine seems to be running hotter at higher speeds (ie: freeway speeds taching 3K). Slower street driving seems about the same.

I'm not too informed on electric water pumps. Can they be used for daily drivers?? How long should they last if used for daily driving purposes? What is the difference between a stock and electric pump other than implied features?

Don't they say the ewp last about 2000 hrs. So just figure out how many hours you drive a week then multiply time 52 and then take that answer and divide 2000 bit it so you will get a rough estimate of how long it will last.
