Boss's LT1
My boss has a 94 Z28, his SES light is on and he was told that there is a sensor under his manifold that had gone bad, but was quoted $600 to fix it. Im not too familiar on the LT1, is there such sensor under the lt1 manifold?

ok I found out more info on it,
He gets 12 mpg on the Z, bought the car new and hasnt gotten a speeding ticket in 20 years.
Light comes on when car gets to operating temp, and comes off when driving. Seems like a heat thing.

if you get the code that would help us alot.
there's no sensor under the intake manfold... if there talking exhaust yeah it could be a temp sensor, or knock sensor, o2 sensor, oil level sensor... but hell you could get all those replaced for less then 600
have him check fuses... it could be the air pump going out... if it is the fuse will be blown

I tried, he said he been driving it like that for the last 2 years so he doesnt care to fix it. His mechanic (that he has been going to for the last 20 years) told him it would cost $600 to replace it because of all the labor.

man the only thing that i can think of that cost that much would be an opti with labor.
but i dont see a 94 throwing a code for that(since there's no crank sensor) specially if its still drive able

just because he gets 12 miles to the gallon doesnt mean its his oxygen sensors. he has a SES light so its throwing all kinds of fuel at it which will get him horrible gas milage. what you need to tell your boss to do, is go to autozone and get the car scanned for FREE and they will tell him the code, and whats wrong with it. once he tells you whats wrong with it, post back up and let us know so we can give you further advice.

his mechanic is on crack... it wouldnt cost 200 dollars to replace all those sensors.... well maybe close depending on the cost of the O2's.... but all of those sensors are cake... they are all easy to get to .... tell him to find out the exact code number and we can help you better...
