Default Good day driven cam suggestions

I drive my 94 Z about 500 miles a week and 18 mpg is fun enough for me, but i am also looking for a little more punch to my car. internally, i havea refreshed head with 1.6 rockers. can anyone reccomend a mild to medium cam for my lt1? i am considering some port work in the future as well.

HEre comes the pissing. But I have a lt4 hotcam in my car and I am happy with it. I drive it back and forth to work and school and still average about 20-21 with it on a light foot. Yes there are bigger but I wanted a proven design and something I could install and not have to fk with all of the time. It also gets along well with a now stock converter in the trans for the time being.

For what you are asking I would look at the Crane 210/224 or the little LPE I think 211/219 are it's duration numbers.

CC XE224/230 (aka cc503), I had this cam proir to my cc306 along with stock heads, 1.6 Promag RR's, 986 Valve springs and MAC Midlengths. Put down 336rwhp and 340rwtq on a rich tune. Ran great on the street, the power was there the minute you got on it. Had a nice lopey idle and the mpg was not too bad (got around 26mpg open road). Just my .02

A buddy of mine with a 93 T/A, A4 and has the LT4 Hotcam
Home ported heads, 1.6 rrs, Headers, 2800 stall. PCMforless tune
See it here:
http://www.hoeslidiesel.com/lethlta.htm

Runs very strong (8.03 in the 1/8th and dynoed 344hp and 344 tq), definately daily driveable
turns heads like crazy as it lopes by
I'm very impressed with the car's street manners.

So I'd have to recommend the LT4 Hot Cam

After All Ive read about the small cams I would have to remcomend the LPE or small Crane. Apparently cam only they are dynoing 340-350 rwhp and They idle almost like stock. Some of these Newer cams work very well. There was a thread not a while back about all the small cams. If I were you I would go search for that. just type in small cam in the LT1 Section. It is a great and very informative thread.

I have the LT4 HOTCAM Kit in my car. It has the stock Convertor and 3.73's in the back. Excellent daily driver, and a nice lope. It sounds like a Harley at 600 RPM idle.
