Default Rear end questions ...

Who are u guy's using or advise someone to use for ur 12blts or 9inchs ?

I've decided to keep my car a old banger(6 spd), but i want to run a slick on the car so i'm gonna play it safe and go 9" or 12blt.

Just curious of what company(s) most use and what u payed.

Also , i'm looking to redo some of my suspension , what do u guy's advise ? I'm not trying to spend BIG dollars , so keep that in m ind , i just want the car to leave decent on the street and track.

Thanks,
Dale

Well it all depends, your not going to break either aftermarket rear end unless you give it some serious trouble.

It depends on if you want to stay true to the GM, then go with a 12 bolt, if you dont care then go with the ford style 9in.

Both rears are really good.
But as most people dont know, once you switch to a bigger rear, your horsepower will go down, not much though, because the parasitic loss of a bigger rotational mass of the bigger axle.

I figured on loosing horsepower a little but thats ok.

I'm just curious to know what company and how much.I have NO certain preference , just wanna know i'm not going to explode my rear-end on the starting line.

How much power you pushin... I bought an Auburn Pro Series 10 bolt, rated at 500hp/500tq. I have some 3.73's on it, it bites.. Eaton makes a good one also, that is still stock 10 bolt size.

I don't know what my HP will be when it's done , i've just heard all the HORROR stories about 10blts that terrifie me.I'd rather take he easy way out and buy a 12blt or a 9inch.

I blew my factory 10 bolt apart, and that was a stock motor with an A4, I was like ****, but proud of her at the same time. The new one I have is alot stronger, it is guaranteed also.

I paid $503 for the Carrier, and a full Shim and Bearing kit. I forgot the website, all my stuff is packed in storage. I am kinda out of the States right now..
