The Game Plan..Whatta ya think?
This is what Im thinking. In order, and overall for my first mods...up to around $2,000. CAI..LT's..ORY..CatBack..4.10's..TQ 3200..Tune..DR's Thats what I've thought to be a good plan. I have been fighting myself over the stall and gears. For what they will run I could almost grab the 1LE package. Am I right to do the Stall & Gears and just get the Heads & Cam down the road? Anything u would subsistute? Whatd o you think my setup would run in the 1/4?

thats a good setup for drag racing but you might not like it too much on the road driving every day or roll racing.. the exhaust stuff and intake and drs is a good idea but you wont really need a tune after those mods.. 1le package is basically just a stripped down model with a good suspension and a little bit better intake

Did you mean to say LE1 package since you went on to talk about heads and cam in the next line? Def a great job with the exhaust and inktake, I would def not get 4.10's for your A4. There are a few things you should think about. 4.10s would make your highway mileage suck and is overkill for a stock motor, you are going to rev yourself right out of your powerband real fast and be in OD before you cross the traps. Another thing you want to think about is: If you get gears and a torque converter you will need stikcy stires to hook up. Otherwise its a huge waste of money becuase all it will do is create wheel spin. So since you would have sticky tires and hard launches your trans is really likely to take a dump on you, probably then followed by your rear.

If you daily drive the car I would switch those 4.10's to 3.73's and that 3200 converter to a 2800 or 3000. I have heard many times to not go above a 3.73 gear ratio in an automatic. The 2800 and 3000 converters are very streetable with the 2800 being a little more streetable and the 3000 pulling slightly harder. Oh and do get the tune, even on a stock car the tune does help out, I recommend a MadZ28 tune which is very inexpensive and enables you to adjust some things and it would allow the car to run properly with whatever converter, gears, etc. you decide to run plus it will be programmed to work with your 160* thermostat as well.

Yes I meant LE1 ... and I have been fighting myself over the 4.10's a bit as well as the right stall. Thats gonna be a BIG decision...one that you only want to do once. I just ordered a Loudmouth for my car, and I plan on gears next..Im on the fence...4.10s...3.73s ..Hmmm

I see. For me it is quite the opposite. Highway is most of the miles.

I agree that 4.10's are crazy on an A4, unless you have the power to really push a 28" slick. With the 4L60E first gear of 3.06, times the 4.10 rearend ratio equals 12.55 which make quick first gear launches impossible if you are making any real power unless you have slicks or very soft, wide DRs.
For a street car a number in the 10.5-11.5 range makes more sense. A 3.73 rear with the 4L60E will give you 1st gear final ratios of 11.41.
With a blown 383 and a 4L80E, I'm wishing I went with a 3.23 or 3.42 instead of my 3.73 rear. Lighting up the tires at 45 or 50 sounds fun but slows you down in the long run.
My car's too loud but I'd like to add a couple resonators to the exhaust sys.

Your going to hate that stall if you drive it everyday, a friend of mine has a 3200 stall and i rode in it down to Atlanta for the show, definitely the loudest 4 hours i've spent in a car, and the gas mileage wasnt good at all. I personally hate the way a stall sounds anyways because its basically just like riding the clutch in a M6 and i hate the way that sounds. I would suggest a toned down stall and gear combo if you drive it everyday, if you are like my friend and have other daily drivers then i would go ahead and do it, but after he put that stall he parked it from a daily driver.
