Default ground clearance probs w/ long tubes?

i was talking with a guy at the local speed shop and he thought i should put short headers on and i asked him that wernt long tubes suppose to be better? he said they do give you more low end torque but they will give you less ground clearance and harder to install plus you need a y pipe which he said probably needs to be custom made......

any 1 have any insight on this issue?

I have FLP long tubes, cutouts, and Catco cats and a custom Y, and I have about 4 to 5 inches underneath the cutouts, they hang a little lower than anything else on the car, but no issues they scrap here and there, but if you take it easy on speed bumps and watch out for bad roads you shouldnt be worried

Pacesetter long tube headers and a Y pipe for $400 bucks If i were ever to do headers it would be long tubes and thats what I did. I love my headers, they completly woke my car up.

Here is a pic of mine before the intall:

You can buy them anywere
www.neweraperformanceparts.com is were i got mine. If i could only get them to get lt1 tuning software.

Usually you gain a good chunk, somewhere around 30 hp, its ALOT louder, I ran my TA with open headers for a week or two and OMG it sounded wicked, even with the rest of the exhaust hooked up it sounds better.

I heard alot of good stuff about the Pacesetters, FLP no longer makes LTs for the LTx although I love them and the build quality is awesome I heard they are among the best if not the best, Hookers arent as high quality as the price from what I have heard, and Kooks are awesome if you have the money they are right up there with the FLP.

Definitely get coated, you will not regret it, IMHO they look way better

I am buying the Racing Pacesetter LT's and Y pipe through Summit when I get back. I am getting the coated ones. They have no hookup for AIR, and EGR. They will look sharp with all that junk not there. It's like $560 all together.
