It will make you look to poor to afford a paint job.

Now if you want to paint your car with real paint use Matt black, its almost a flat and it doesnt look like complete ****, thats what you see hot rod guys using. They dont really use primer....Its Matt black

they have clears that you put over it that give it a matt finish the clear is what protects the paint if its a two stage paint

you can paint it with regular black paint...then they have clear coat that does not shine...it would be a regular paint job with no shine clear coat! thats prolly what you want to do

Paint jobs are expensive and if your car is starting to look like hell, I believe primer would be an ok avenue. The painting part is not so bad as previously mentioned the clearcoat is the hard part as is the finishing. The clearcoat is what gives you all your depth and the shine. Some people just can't pull off the clearcoat and/or finishing. I let a guy paint my car a few years ago and it had orange peel, fish eyes (heavy clear cloat), and spots where he didn't clear enough. I remember seeing the car before he cleared it and thought it would be great. Boy I was wrong. Getting that fixed now. So anyway, if you car needs something and you can't afford paint right now, or you're still working on it, plan on going to the track and all that jazz, then primer isn't so bad IMHO. If you go to the trouble of getting the flat black, then you probably should have spent your money on the real paint job.

i had my 81 camaro driving around in black primer for a while, most people just thought it was a bad black paintjob or old and faded.
