06-there is a ton of stuff you can take out if its just a drag car only. You can take out all the seats and console and put in a lightweight race seat, remove carpet noise deadner, all the a/c stuff under dash and a/c and smog equipment under hood.

That should get you started...you can save alot by replacing pars like lightweight fuel cell, fiberglass hood, replacing glass with lexan, etc. etc.

Good luck on your car.

Tons of stuff you can take out. Ny friends got his down to around 3000 lbs, and hasn't gotton real crazy like some, his has carpet but his dash is gone, he made a custom dash out a a sheet of abs plastic, cut it to fit. open the hood and you see the engine and not much more. Ill try and get some pics of it...

This ought to help you out:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-racing-tech/17319-weight-reduction-list.html

I'd also get some skinnies on there to reduce the rotating mass which is more important than reducing weight by say putting a lighter weight hood on etc. And I'd highly consider getting a roll cage which will add weight but could possibly save your life and may be mandatory depending how fast you decide to make your car.

If you don't have a ton of cash, in the latest GMTHP a guy with a 94 firebird chopped out his hood supports and the latch assembly and went with hood pins. Way cheaper than a fiberglass hood and more weight loss.
