Default Gears....

Worth while mod or not? That car isnt fast enough to break a 10 bolt yet, its also an auto, but the main thing that doesnt quite make sense to me is dumping the money on a rear end that isnt going to live when I start making power. If it does break down the line I am out the 5-700 that I spent doing the gears. I have seen a few cars go 10s with the stock rear, all autos though. If I dont do heads and cam, save those for a new motor when the time comes, I would like to spray the car. So would it be better off leaving the 3.23s alone?

500-700 doing gears? You can get gears installed for cheap. 3.73 gears are fun, especially with nitrous, and a torque converter.

You will be sorry if you have gears installed for cheap.

They are one part that is very easy to screw up if not done correctly.

I know someone who's gone 10's with 2.73's in a LS1 car. He thought the same thing, why do gears, when he knew later he was going to upgrade the whole rearend.

if you pay less then $250 in labor for a gear install, it's probably done wrong.

well getting the gears will be worth it but it will break your rear after a while the factory 10 bolt will flex and break they wasn`t built strong enuff to handle alot of torque i went throught 3 myself before going to a moser 12 bolt with 3;73 gears and its bullit proof so be carefully and put an aftermarket torque arm that may help with the life of the 10 bolt the factory arm is just stamped steel and it will flex mine would bang to the body under load at the strip

3:73's here....my car is another beast now.....definately worth the money if the 12 bolt isnt in the budget right now.

I had 4.10s in my 94 A4 car. woke that ****** up like crazy.

I'm going 4.10s or 4.56s shortly in my M6 car.

The install only cost 100 bucks, friend's deal. but yeah you should pay around 300 for an install.
