the top speeds might be similar, but the LT1 will definately take longer getting there. and it depends how crazy you are. i had my limiter changed to like 259 or something crazy like that. 5700rpm in 5th gear with stock gears. 170+mph
In the 1/4 mile alone, the LS1 is faster than a LT1 by a second
I raced my buddies LT1 T/A M6 from a roll and a dig with the same mods, and the same end result-- me pulling on him hard. we might be even in 1st gear but thats about it.

if you're tight on cash, and have to ask...LT1. nothing wrong with the engine architecture or the flow. you want good hp and great torque for cheap dough...thats an LT1. remember a lot is the driver too...

Im sure a million people will chime in on this now. But one other point, as far as I have researched, once you get to the point of being able to do some flow enhancing on an LT1 (Heads Ported & Cam) They can give LS1s some serious headaches. People will argue that mod for mod the LS1 will win. True to some degree, BUT if you buy an LS1 for thousands more, will you really be able to keep up with that "Mod for Mod" attitude?

i almost forgot , yes it came stock with z rated tire, in fact its a `94 Trans Am GT, yes they exist, and I have the orignal window to prove it! That and LT-1 vs LS-1 is a matter of do you want to spent the extra 5K to get the car or to make it faster, depending on the driver an LT-1(no nos) vs an LS-1 on a 75 shot is the same ET

Another big factor for me was that its alot less common to see a clean unbeaten LT1 Car these days then an LS1 car...Obviously because they are older yes. But why not get one and have one of the last "roughcut" muscle machines. I really like the un-domesticated sound and feeling of a rumbling LT1. Even alot of LS1 guys will agree the sound is better. They just feel angry.
