wait wait wait.... DO NOT use either of those cams unless you have upgraded your valve springs and your rockers. The stock springs CANNOT take that kind of lift they will bind and you can kiss your valves goodbye and say hello to LOTS of headwork.

he's right.... a CC306 would run alot better in a car with better head flow.... when you're running stock heads i'd stick with something more suited for stock head flow.... running a massive cam won't give you the most power for your buck....
and the CC306 is kinda older tech for an LT1.... There are much better cams out now with better ramp speeds... I like the Xtreme Energy line from comp.... if you want something similar to a cc306 get the 236/242.... .556/.576 lift with a 1.6 rocker and a 112lsa..... nice cam, sick idle, great power na and on spray.... but i'd still look into some head work if you're gonna pull the cam and do that much work...... either way good luck...

the GM847 is a little bigger. it has a little more overlap than the CC306 so it will idle a little rougher. your bottom end will be really sluggish.

I have no real live experience in this matter, but I'll throw this out for discussion: how about the LT4 hot cam? It's the product of the GM engineers and was intended to be used with OE, not aftermarket, heads and intake, and is somewhat stouter than the F-body stocker, and can be had in kit form with springs and 1.6 roller rockers for a little more than $500. shbox.com has detailed installation instructions. I gather it's got something of a lope at idle, and should work well with a basically stock engine. JM$.02USW.
