Default Convince me I need long tube headers...

Got LE2 heads and the LE1 HL on the way. I will have all the mods that Lloyd recommends for best performance in the neighborhood of 380-400 RWHP.

I currently have RK sport mid-tubes headers which are near identical to Arizona speed and marine headers. These headers are 1.75" primaries with 2.5" collectors with no catalytic converter. Most all long tube headers are 1.75" primaries with 3" collectors.

After the head and cam install I expect to lose a few horses to the mid-tube headers but I hope it wont be much. The reason I chose the Mid-tube headers is I wanted maximum ground clearance and the ability to bolt up my catalytic converter when I want. Currently I can switch between the cat when I don't want to smell the exhaust and the bullet muffler for performance in 15 minutes.

Who wants to guess my amount of HP loss with my headers and who wants to try to convince me to get long tube headers.

was your dyno results on a mustang dyno or dynojet? because it seems kinda low for what you have.

Hard to tell exactly, I did several things at once. Felt very noticable.

Do you realize the dyno numbers in the sig do not include the heads and cam which he said are ON THE WAY?

That said SuperFlos are more like Mustangs and will tend to read "low" like a Mustang.

Might he not need the LT's until he had LE3 heads?

no. long tubes would likely produce more power even on a stock engine. and then they become even more wanted the more exhuast flow you have, aka power.

But I have no convincing arguements, since technically the headers I run are mid length.

I can accept around 5HP loss and keep what I have and have maximum ground clearance and the ability to switch out my bullet muffler or the cat.

Aint been convinced yet.

I have Pace Setter Racing LT's, and the Eibach Pro Kit installed, and I have better ground clearance now vs. when I had my Pace Setter Mids. I am scraping less, and my Exhaust is tucked up underneath it nicely. I run the Y-pipe, and a Bullet on the end of that, no cat. The power difference was extremely noticeable over the mids, all through the RPM range. It's a little more than a 5hp gain, just a little...

And if you noticed my Dyno Numbers, keep in mind I am pushing that through an A4, with stock Stall and Drive Shaft. I also have the stock 48mm TB.

You're probably losing about 10 peak rwhp. I'm contemplating going to MAC mids for the same reason. Ground clearance and also so I can get the thing inspected without it having to be mission impossible. Right now I'm at 397 rwhp with the LE1 package and mail order tune. I'll switch and then dyno it to see what happened. I'm sure with the smaller primaries and shorter length I'll lose low end torque and a little something across the board.

Ulakovic22, what other mods do you have with the LE1 pack to get 400 rwhp???
