what do you think of my cam, will i be impressed... thanks for any info.,its greatly appreciated Jay

The comp guideplates do not fit well and pushrod length needs to be determined AFTER the motor is together. The cam is a sheeple cam nice and big to impress your friends but from the short specs I bet you could do A LOT better unless you are gooing for emmisions then maybe just scale it back to better.

BIG cams on a wide LSA are too allow folks to fuckup cam selection but still have it drive OK and they never know just how much power they are missing.

how much does a custom ground cam cost? and where can I get it done, I am located in Cleveland Ohio...My car is at GMR SPEED. how much more HP can I pick up with it

and yes my heads were flowed...I can post the numbers up later
and I am not going the emission route, I have no cats, no egr, etc. I just need a badass cam that makes some sick HP. Nothing too big, just enough to be a lilcrazy

the compression will be 11.5 : 1

and its a M6

Setup sounds good, but on a 383 if you are looking for max effort ported aftermarket heads would be the way to go IMO. And a cam on a norrower LSA will make more power. If these guys think your cam is huge, they would flip at mine lol, and I drive it on the street.

Just for reference my setup is:
forged eagle 383 assembly (internal balance)
srp -5cc pistons
TFS heads ported by Lloyd elliot (2.08/1.625 valves, right at 300cfm intake)
Intake manifold ported by Lloyd elliot
1.6 Pro Mags, Morel Lifters, Hooker LT's, Elec cutouts, CSR electric WP, holley 58mm TB, Canton pan, splayed 4 bolt main, McLeod Street Twin clutch, !AIR !EGR, other stuff...
approx 11.5:1 compression

Cam is pretty large for hydraulic roller over .600 lift intake and exhaust, high 240s duration on a narrow (less than 110) LSA.

indeed. and it pulls like F'ing crazy right up to 7K, idle's OK (with a pretty strong lope), and I wouldn't change it for anything. hell I paid someone almost $400 to "acquire" me an emmisions pass ceertificate just so I could run this cam.

I am on the other end of the spectrum...my cam is a Joe Overton spec that is 22X/23X .568 on a 111 and it pulls like crazy, but I only have to rev it to 6300...Its got a nice choppy 900 rpm idle and should help me go around 120ish with my recent changes...I don't like BIG cams for the street and I've beaten plenty with wayyyy more cam than I have...just be careful, bigger isn't always better...(with cams) hahaha

custom cam takes in all the aspecs and puts the valve timing wher it needs to be for best performance. I'm gonna say a custom cam will give you a broader power range with more HP, and likely not have to spin it quite as high.

I am not saying everybody and there brother would want to drive my car on the street (especially with the street twin, like no fade in), but it isn't my daily driver either. and yeah i think your cam should be spec'd for your combo and your goals, gear, stall, etc. I basically told bret that I wanted a max effort cam for my setup but still hydraulic roller, and i let him figure out the rest. I know I am far from an expert on cams, i know the basics but i sure wouldn't qualify myself with the pros lol.

For the guy that started the thread, a custom cam is definitely the way to go if you ask me, and bret and joe are about the two most reputable guys around.
