cam suggestions for 94 z28 LT1 6 speed manual
[B] Okay here's the scoop guys, Im selling my 1999 Pont. firebird, and the replacement is a 1994 Z28 LT1 6 speed manual. Im wanting to build this baby up for heavy street strip. I need some suggestions on what cam to go with! Ive been hearing about MF15 I dont know who makes this cam, or anything about it! I just want a nice cam where all I have to change is the springs maybe push rods. I want something with good RPM range. I WANT THE BIGGEST CAM I CAN GET WITHOUT HAVING TO DO HEAD WORK! any suggestions?

Im sure if you have been looking around the lt1 thread you will find that everyone says the way to go is a custom grind cam to suit exactly what you are looking for. If you wanted to go off the shelf it sounds like the cc306 will suit your needs perfectly.

First guys I am a GIRL, hints the name LADY_hot_Rod, also im only 20 so this is all new to me. Thats why I am looking for suggestions, So lets say I change the push rods timing chain and stock rockers, first how much of a bitch is it going to be to change the timing chain. I was just told that changing the heads is a pain in the *** and costly, however im not to much worried about the cost. I want to build this car up for street and drag, I want to atleast be able to run low 11's at the least. okay so now i need some suggestion on head work. Imagine this car is yours what would u do with it?

You have to take the timing chain off to get to the cam, so that's going to have to be done no matter what. Pulling the heads with the motor in the car is probably going to be a huge PITA. Yes, most people port the stock castings. There are several companies that do it.
First of all, do you have all the supporting mods? You need to list what you have already, and then we can give you better advice.
If all you want is to run 11's, you can do that with nitrous pretty easily. If you're getting ported heads, you should definitely get a custom cam from the same person that does them so that it will be perfectly suited to your combination.

Okay well I Have already looked into the cold air intake, and the super charger, also picked out a set of flow masters for the car, I just want to know exactly what I want and need and place the order for everything at once so I only hopefully have to do it once, also I need to know what I want so I need to know if I will have to get a new transmission and if my *** end will withstand the HP or If i need to build it up. This is my first experience redoing a car myself. SO what do you have in your car?

If you're really this serious, maybe you should work on the rear end first and then work your way forward. If you do any searches, you'll find that the flowmasters are possibly the worst exhaust you can put on your car.
There are acually 12 second LT1's running with just bolt ons. The suspension has a lot of room for improvement.
In order: Strange 12-bolt, SFC, LCA, Hooker/Magnaflow exhaust, Hooker headers, tune, then get a H/C combo with all the associated parts.
Some other things to do when you do H/C are Comp Pro Mag 1.6 RR, Cloyes double roller timing chain, EWP, pushrods, lifters, injectors, retune, fuel pump among other things. To get 9's or 10's, I'd think you'd be better off getting nitrous. If you wanna do FI, you'll need a new bottom end.

There's a lot to consider. You have pretty lofty goals and I'd like to see you get them there, but it sounds like you're just getting way ahead of yourself. Post up your current mods.
