Did you at least mill the snot out of the heads too get some compression??? Judging by the low tq I am guessing not.

I just got my new motor going with the same XFI 268 cam. My results with the idle are exactly the same as yours. Idles almost like a stocker at 750rpm to my pleasant surprise.

However I went with 10.75:1 compression in a L98 motor. Just got to put some miles on it so I can get it to the dyno for WOT tuning.

Not trying to hate but you would have been sooo much happier with a ported lt1 casting. Even Trickflow themselves said that these heads are to big for stock cubic inch N/A motors (big ports & low compression). However, if you build a stroker down the line the Trickflows are a good starting point. Main thing though is that you're happy.

We're putting a blower on it next so we didnt mill the heads, the CR is right at 10.1...The shorties and stock cats hurt tq too but thats what we had on the car already and were going to keep it that way,its a street car...I figure with 7lbs of boost it should make another 100RW,I'd be happy with a dead stock idle, emmssions friendly 450RWHP Impala

Just out of curiosity, are you sure those #'s aren't reversed?
1. that's a pretty small cam.
2. truthfully I think the heads would over-flow for the cam
3. I don't see the tq being less than hp with the small duration.

If not, then big congrats to ya. Those are some damn good #'s

The torque numbers were a bit lower as the converter flashed past the torque peak a bit.

I drove the car back from the dyno in Philly traffic and I have to say it really did drive like a stock cammed car until you got into it

It was over at Berrel Auto's new dyno. I make a trip to philly typically once a month, if you want me to let you know the next time I am headed down just drop me an email at programmer@pcmforless.com and I can let you know in advance if you need a tune.
