Default Low Coolant Light??

Well yesterday my low coolant light came on twice, during two different times that i drove my car, and today the light came on again when i got home from work.So I let the car cool down and I checked the radiator and its full.So why would the light come on if its full? The temperature always looked fine during the times that the light would be on, any suggestions.

on the passenger side on the radiator facing the Alternator there is a sensor. You can see the plug on the passengerside facing the back of the car. They go bad. You can replace it($60) or just unplug it. Should stay off. mine did that the day i bought it and i just unplugged it. No problems since.

That sensor goes bad over time; no big deal but it is expensive for whatever reason.

Yes, those sensors tend to go bad every few years. I have replaced about 3 of them on different cars I own/have owned.

Just unplug the damn thing, dont waste your money, if you were low on coolant you wouldnt need a sensor to tell you, the car would run warmer. It doesnt do anything, just unplug it.

Yep, that's one solution. However, I'm pretty particular about my cars and I don't like broke **** on them, regardless of how important (or not) the particular part is.

I guess in this case do what makes sense to you, formula594.

I had mine go bad this last summer, I just replaced it because I cant stand when things are lit up on the guages and I didn't want to worry about checking the fluid regularly (even though its not that hard), im lazy i guess.

Here are the part numbers in case you wanted to see how much they are:

1994-1997 coolant level sensor (2 way plug) 10096163

1994-95 coolant level sensor (8 way plug) 12135027

I have replaced this part and don't remeber it being $60. Actually GMPartsdirect sells them for $30. I would replace it so you know when you are actually low on fluid.
