93 is speed density only which is more performance oriented, 94-97 are speed density and mass air flow. 94-97 can be tuned out to speed density only and ditch the MAF restriction. 93 is batch fire injection (all injectors on one bank fire at once) while 94-97 is sequential injection (only the injector for the cylinder on its intake stroke fires). a 94-97 tuned to speed density mode is essentially equivilant to a 93. The sequential injection mainly helps with emissions. Some of the later years (96+?) had powdered metal rods instead of the "pinkies" in the 93-95s. The head castings for 96+ are also different, they flow more in stock form but cant be ported as far as 93-95. Please note my years for the changes in rods and headcastings might be off so don't take them as golden.

Nope, 93-95 had the same cam they changed cams in 96 and in 96 they made the cam a few degrees smaller and gave more LSA.
