Default Dual exhaust question ?????????

i have a stock 95 formula that i am currently making it into a M6. I dont want to go with the Y pipe so i am going to make it a dual with x pipe, but my queston is should the pipes be 2 1/2 or 3inch . i have seen many diffrent people use both but i have never heard the diffrence. will 3inch be to much for a stock motor. Sorry guys it has mid length headers

It will hurt your low end and I don't know if your car will see tons of top end improvement. It will sound better IMHO. It will be a good mod for the future if you want to go the heads and cam route. It is up to you, but I would get true duals for the sound. True duals FTW!

thanks man but as 2 1/2 or 3 inch. i think i will be going with the two and a half. the thing is that many people use three inch will it be worth it. this car will only be a daily driver

2.5 is plenty, 3" is better. It'll be easier to get 2.5 over the axle if you ever decide to go that route

Generally dual 3" is recommended for anything over 450hp by many of the major exhaust manufacturers.

If using a properly sized long tube header for the car, too large of an exhaust should have very little effect on low end torque. Go too small & it will hurt your top end.

For what it is worth, 2-1/2" is much easier to route under the car & will help to keep it quieter. 2-1/4" is not much different performance wise than a single 3" system, so this would be more for sound than power.

I went with 2.5" for mine. I've heard that 3" sounds better, but I still did 2.5" just for a little more ground clearance.
