If it is not an evo the thing is a frigin economy car with like 150 hp if it is lucky so I wouldn't worry about that. The new Eclipse have a little power but I have never seen one run lower than 14 flat and I have seen a plenty of LT1's go into the 13's so watch out a little for the Eclipse if you mess up a launch or miss a shift if you have a manual he can get you if he does everything right. The Lancer just laugh at it.

EDIT I saw the Lancer was an 03 they only have 150hp this year before that they had 120 so you better watch out

The Lancer will get killed. You will utright kill it, then take their pride away the longer the race goes. I have not personally seen a new eclipse race, but form waht I have heard they are pretty fast. You will jsut have to race it and tell us how it went so we can all get an idea. Just make sure you don't spin.

my '00 GTP RAPED a n/a Lancer from a roll and dig. i mean MURDERED it. All i had was a 3.4 pulley, DHP pcm, and some exhaust and intake work. My Z28 would destroy my GTP so if that gives you an idea The Eclipse could be a job for ya. i got ahold of on and it hung until i hit 2nd and he dropped back quickly but i'm also not stock.

Yea, unless it's a EVO AWD Turbo, you're OK.

The transmission button changes some settings to make the shifts firmer and it delays shifting into OD at more part throttle positions.

You can get a tune to remove the speed limiter. Check out madz28.com or pcmforless.com for a mail order tune (or you can purchase tuning software yourself).

You can tune it yourself, but due to you just getting into the whole car scene, I'd send your ECM out to get it done, as said.

Yea Bryan Herter at PCMForless will do a real good job for you. As for the cars you wanna race, laugh at 'em. The Eclipse may hang for a gear or 2, but after that peace out! If mine was running I go embarrass them with ya

A gear or two? Man, you're really praising that silly Eclipse! That's like 65-70mph with 3.23s

You'll probably lose, Hacks.

Yeah you should do that, and get a 160 thermo at the same time as he programs it. You will feel your car wake up some, being how they are rich from factory. I say the best mod you can do in the beginning.

Dude's car is pretty much stock. The newest Eclipses aren't complete dogs, but shouldn't be an issue even for a stock car. Like I said it might hang (if he loses traction!) but after that tail lights are all it's gonna see.
