Default LT4 Hotcam Times, and Need Some Help

Ok i made a post on here a few weeks ago that I cant find at the moment and everyone was asking for exact times. I found 2 of my run slips. the first was a best time run and the second is a run that I blew my clutch just as I was passing the 1/8 mile marker as you can see

specs:
95 z28 M6 Vert all Options
LT4 Hotcam Kit
K&N CAI
!EGR and Emissions
Gutted Cat
Computer Tune
No Thermostat
street tires
300lb driver
1/2 to 3/4 tank of gas
No Clutch Dumping
Shifts at 6200-6300

Best Run
.240
2.232
6.092
9.226
78.51

14.166
99.45

clutch blown
.661
2.531
6.397
9.537
78.21

15.607
68.24

Those runs were with the car 100% stock other than the mods listed and at a heavy weight and hte motor had 4k miles on it. Since then I have added a catback with cutout, short sifter, msd6al, accell wires, platinum plugs, air foil, and a 160deg thermostat. At this point which do you think I would see better track times with, a set of gears (probibly 3.73s as its a daily driver) or a set of midlength headers?

i would go with a set of long tubes . 373/410. and drag radials that well cut down your 60ft time if your 10 bolt holds up

You got a best of a 14.1 with the Hotcam...something isn't right there..
My Hotcam setup with 2000 Stall, 3.73's, LT's, and all your other normal stuff went a 12.61@109.8, and it had a 2-3 shifting problem..

Yea, there is a problem somewhere. My car, and most LT1s, go 14.0 or a bit quicker with nothing but a CAI and a cat-back. You should be in or close to the 12s with only a set of headers with that setup on paper.

I agree something is not right, as above, My car in the past, Hot cam kit, LT's, 3.42's, 2800 stall ran 12.6 @ 109 also...

that is what ive been thinking, but I dont know what the deal is. But i figured maybe it was a matter of the weight or something. Im starting to wonder if maybe i got fucked with my cam and the guy sent me a stock cam instead of an lt4?

you can hear a slight lope, sounds a little more than what most lt1s sound like...like people swore i had an exhaust on the car when it was all stock. I bought this kit back in November, didnt finish rebuilding the motor till march. trying to find the guys name right now...

in any case i sent him an email to see if I am jsut rememering incorrectly when I am thinking i bought an lt4 hotcam and hotcam kit. maybe it said it was an lt4 cam with a hotcam kit or somethign like that and im jsut not rememebring correctly. Hopefully he will get back to me and ill see if i need to be doing a cam swap or not in the next few weeks.

but the general census is that even though i have a vert, was babying the tranny a lil, and have 1/2-3/4 of a tnak of gas that i should have definately gotten more in the mid 13's right?

I am the one that sold you the cam. I assure you that it is a hotcam, not a production LT4 cam. Specs are 218/228 .525/.525 lift on a 112 LSA.

You can measure the lift on it if you doubt me without removing the cam. Just set up a dial indicator on the valve side of the rocker arm, and cranking it by hand till you get to max lift.

The car that it was in previous to yours ran 13.0s @ 109 on radials.

Sorry to say, but you have other problems.

oh thats fine Colin, I jsut wanted to make sure. Wasnt accusing you of anything, hah if anyhting I would accuse myself of misreading first or rememebring what i bought incorrectly. I acutally dont had having some other problem if it means jsut simply tracking it down, versus having to "respend" money.

Ill be taking my car to the shop tomorrow for a few tweakings. While doing htat Ill hook the fuel rail up and see what kinda presure I am running.

i havent had any issues as far as bogging and what not, but ill still check it out to see.

If you didnt have headers when you ran those times then it was chocking your motor up. I had my cam in for just a little bit before I put my LTs on and it REALLY woke it up. I think that would help some anyways.

My 95 A4 Z-28 with 3.42s and 17x9 1/2 ZO6 replica wheels, Dunlop 275 40s all the way around and a LPE cold air kit went 13.78@100 1.97 60 ft stock weight minus the spare and jack.

I don't see the point of doing a cam without having full exhaust...whats the point really....

oh i agree...but i was doing a motor rebuild at the time and decided to put a hotcam kit in while everythign was disassembled....been saving up for cat back and for headers and about to work on a home polish job for the intake manifold. But i figured i would start tracking times now and seeing where to go as i go along.

Torkman...are you running a vert? Becuase the weight difference will play in there...plus im abotu 280-300lbs and had spare jack and tire in its place.

I agree, MOST totally stock lt1 cars around here run 8.9-9.0's
