Chirping 3rd does not mean faster shifting, your tires could be getting worse. There are alot of different factors that could cause this. Chirping 3rd is not a good indicator of shifting abilities!

More inflated tires + cold days/surface will let your tires spin much more than usual. Also, a good "shifter" won't have ANY tire spin. Imagine driving ***** out around a corner, and you chirped the gear, and all of a sudden that MINUTE amount of traction lost throws you into a spin. Will you still wonder how far your shifting abilities have come? A clutch that grabs well, will also aid in the chirping ability, so does reving it up slightly before each shift. But, when you're shifting from high RPM to another gear, that's basically the cause. So have you learned to toss it into gear faster, probably

My old 700R4 would bark 3rd @ 90mph with my TPI that was only pushing around 230hp when I was finished (chipped, exhaust, ported plenum w/ 58mm, 24# and !cat) But it was a built up trans (not maxed, but enough to make me happy)
