Default taylor OVTC wires

ok im going to install them today, are they already cut to length? because it doesnt say anything about cutting.

also how the hell do you get the opti boots on the wires enough to crimp the connectors? the boots are 7mm and the wires are 8mm. TR said those are the only boots for them. i tried grease and baby powder so far. what about heating up the boots a little to loosen them up?

If they have ends on both sides, they're cut to fit. If they are bare on one side, they are custom, as in, you cut them to however long you want them to be.

These wires are a major PITA to assemble. Good luck!

I used a round file to open them up a bit. Then used some petrolem jelly on a q-tip and lubed the inside of the boot. Made them slip through alot easier.

Well I'll tell you my story about these. I got them and like they said above, since they are over the valve cover then they need to be cut to length. What I did was put the plug for the spark plug on, run them down to the Opti and then cut them to the right length. And me and my dad could not for the life of us get the boots to fit on after trimming them. We tried everything, grease, oil, even heating em up in hot water so they would be flexible. So I called up Taylor and asked if they had any suggestions and the guy said that those were the hardest boots to install as far as wires go and their guys usually use the machine... He suggested using Dawn or w/e type of dish detergent you have and WALLA! they slid on no problem. Made it soo much easier!

Hope this helps,

Bill

They weren't hard at all. Use the grease that they come with. These are the lengths I used.

man...my dad and I put that on my TA about a month or two ago...MAJOR pain. I used pet. jelly to try and slip the boots on but I thought that made it worse. It was a major pain, but they do look nice!

I just got done doing mine and even on an engine stand it was a PITA. I cut my number 7 too short on accident so I have it routed under the header for the time being.

To put the boots on i used some lithium grease in a spray can, and a center punch. I cut the wires the length i wanted them to be. Then i greased up the punch and pushed the boot on it backwards so that when i pushed it on the wire it was facing the correct way. Then I lined up the punch and the cut wire, used black duct tape (very small piece) to tape them together. Then I soaked the wire and tape in the grease and finally pulled the wire through the boot. After doing it enough times i feel that I could assemble them in less than 30 minutes.

Are you crimping the top and then the side? That way the tabs dig in to the wire.

use a lot of the silicon they send you, should have a little tube in the package. Basically its just push and twist, the more lube you use the better. Bout 1/2 went on easy but 4 of them were a PITA
