Default The best CAI for LT1

I was wondering what is the best CAI for the formulas or should i just go all out and buy a ram air kit? I've heard a really good one is K&N.

they're all going to give you about the same performance. SLP, Moroso, K&N...i got a K&N and it works just fine. its more convenient too, i can just stop by my local auto parts store if i need a new filter or cleaning spray. thats why i went with the K&N.

I went with the LPE CAI as i believe its the cheapest one and performs just as well as the others.

I picked up a K&N kit new for about $180 out the door. I like the looks of it a little more over the moroso, but but apparently perform very similar.

+1 for K&N here!

Just a comment about fitment... In my experience, if you have traction control, the SLP fits the best as far as clearing the routing of the brake line that goes in front of the ABS unit. One issue I had with the SLP is that it moved the MAF location too close to the intake elbow. So, I modified the tube and re-powercoated it. It was a PITA, but it fits great now. Looking back on it, I should have just re-routed that brake line, but didn't feel like opening up the system at the ABS unit.

If you don't have traction control, I'd give a +1 for the K&N.

I don't have a single complaint about my SLP CAI. Like stated above though, you are not going to see much difference between all of the CAI's. Just go with the one that you find a good deal on.

Well, i made my own. The problem i had with the aftermarket ones are that to clear the ABS unit and the radiator cover, the intakes make a T bend in them. Call me cheap but i am functional. i went and bought a piece of 3.5 OD/3.0 ID PVC pipe, extended the wires for my MAF and chopped under the factory air box location to get a smooth larger diameter CAI. oh yeah, i did buy a new elbow, and a really long K&N filter... I guess for about 60.00 it turned out pretty darn good. PM me for more details because it needs mods to clear other stuff. Try it out, if your like me and try experimenting...

Alright i got another question...the intake elbow running from my TB to the MAF is broken and i was wondering if a CAI comes with that elbow or do i need to find one?

you need to find one. buy a smooth one, or else your not helping too much by changing the rest. just my two cents
