Bingo. No way to tell when it will go, except for when you hear it let go. Auto cars put less shock on it, and it will last longer in those cars as a result.

Short answer - Not much...

96 M6 - I've busted THREE 10 bolts - 2 DTS built units - w/ only a CAI and a LT4 Hot Cam kit on Street Tires!

That 1-2 shift (with a good clutch) is brutal!

I blew mine apart right outside the Drive way..Brand new BFG Street Tires on my Z06 Rims at the time.
Then I put in a Auburn Pro Series with GM 3.73's, and testing out the ET Streets I ripped the Ring & Pinion apart...at 2500RPM's
I have since then installed Motive Gears, and I am running a full Drag Suspension, so I am testing how long it will last with the 402 and the 3600 Stall..

It can handle 1 less horsepower than you put to it when it blew up....

but really you'll never know..... generally with a 6 speed it's alot less cuz of shockloads.... put sticky tires on it and i'd say much more than 350 hp with a bit of hook will break it.... most likely the spider gears get stripped in the posi....

Auto's can take more abuse cuz you don't generally shockload the rearend. I'm talking stock auto's and certainly not a transbrake launch. one launch on a t-brake and your 10 bolt is toast.... if you plan on dragracing and making your car faster stop wasting money fixing 10 bolts and buy a 9" or a 12 bolt.... I blew up 5 10's before I figured it out.... 5 10 bolts at 500 a pop is the price of a full blown 9" with everything....

It's going to take awhile for this to catch on but it's sort've like a "half step" in between a stock rearend and an aftermarket 12/9-bolt:

Not a huge investment over the cost of an aftermarket ring & pinion.

The stock rear can handle 1000 horsepower.
until you step on the throttle.

Most of you keep saying HP for the Rear.. but isn't it really the Torque that is popping them..

i don't know but with my 100 shot going in mine soon i'd bet mine won't last longbut i have the 1st gear lockout on the window switch. i'll also NOT be spraying through the gears i've heard if ya do it will go boom along with the engine.lol i'm guessin' it will be MAYBE 2 tanks and it'll be gone unless i baby the shift's. i do know that my 1-2 shift is REALLY brutal if i really drive it. my tires hook so good that i'm always scared it's gonna pop

I, broke the posi in 2 pieces, rear end was brand new, 8 passes on it. I put in mosser axle's, Motive Ring and pinion, Yukon master install kit and , Heavy Duty Torsen Posi. 1340 Differential yolk ( I broke the stoke size 1310) Twisted and broke LS1 drive shaft. Pushing 420 RWHP 401 LBS Torque to the rear tires. launching at 4700 RPM.

Replaced Torsen with Auburn Pro series.... won't last long

You don't have to worry about the stock axles.........the center section will break first.
Ring and pinion or the posi will go long before the axles.

I got an Auburn Pro Series..supposed to be rated for 500/500..
It helps at the track, that thing can put some power down quick. I ripped the Ring and Pinion off of it , the Carrier was fine, did exactly like it was supposed to do.
