on the back of the heads. has anyone taken that off and plugged the holes?? if so do you have overheating problems. Ever since I have put my LT1 together I have had major overheating issues. I have tried everything I can possibly think of. And have not been able to fix it. I have a 3300 cfm fan, 39 gpm EWP, four row aluminum radiator, I put a pressure tester on it and it holds pressure fine, its not losing any water, I tried reversing the fan, the fan has a shroud on it. i cannot think of anything else. so if anyone has any ideas i would really like to hear them. thanks

That's the steam pipe. I believe it's recommended not to remove it, so if you have that's a good reason for it over heating.

It's part of the cooling for the heads I'd leave it on!

(I've watched the amount of coolant that flows through mine and its more than what I would have thought "with engine off using ewp")

Without it all the air and steam that rise to the top which is the heads has a hard time getting out because the only way out is down through the block but it tries to float so that doesn't work well.

Electric WP and a thick radiator might sound like the right thing to do but IMO are probably contributing CAUSES not solutions.

The electric WPs flow LESS than the mechanical and the thick radiator restricts airflow through itself.
