IMHO its not worth its not worth the time and effort for such a small gain from that cam. It would suck to put that baby cam in and find out that you only gain 1 or 2 tenths in the quater. I would spend my money on bolt-ons and tuning first, then go up to a better cam like the cc503 or something along those lines.

IMO the HOT cam is moroe popular than it should be, lots of other options these days.

The only reason people buy this cam imo is that either they dont know enough about parts to pick out a good combo, so they just want to get everything in one "kit" or b/c they are so common that they found it for a discount or something.
There are many better choices that will perform much better even on a stock car. If you're going to take the effort to do a cam, at least get the most you can out of it. EVEN if you just want a mild/beginner cam, the hotcam is still not the best option. Maybe 10 years ago it might have been.

The CC503 is a better cam between the two, just has more potential. Also get some better springs, the LT4 springs are still too soft.

I knew it'd be a matter of time before the hotcam haters came out of the woodwork. Dollar for dollar, you can't beat the hot cam kit with a stick.
The LT4 valve springs also aren't as cursed as everyone says. They work just fine, but don't expect them to take anymore lift than what the hotcam gives it with 1.6 roller rockers.
Yes, there are better cams out there that make more power. But considering a majority of LT1 owners are starving broke college students (and high school) now, they're looking for most bang for the buck. Cam, Rockers, Springs, Retainers, Locks, and Shims for ~$500 is not a bad deal.

Like i said, for people who want to buy everything in a kit or get it cheap, it might not be a bad choice, but if you do a little research there are much better alternatives and they don't cost substantially more.
I don't really consider myself a "hotcam hater" I mean it is what it is, and a lot of people have used it, I just think you're shooting yourself in the foot when you could have much better performance simply by putting in a little effort to choose good parts and not taking the easiest solution out there.
