Those of you who did a fuel pump without racetronix chime in
hey guys, i just bought a walbro 255 for my 96 ta, now i know the racetronix kit is very good, but i dont really see what the diffrence is really, besides the hose to the fuel pump. I have used several walboro pumps in my mustangs and turbocoupes and never had a problem wit the hose getting ruined. Is the kit worth it, and whats the deal with wiring it to the alt, do you realy think you need to do that

Are you cutting an access panel or not?
If you are not then go ahead and get the racetronix kit. If you are going to cut a hole then you can skip it in my opinion. I put in a 255 without the kit and had some issues with the hose, had to go back in a couple of times and ended up double clamping both ends to keep from bleeding pressure.
With the access panel its a snap to get to the pump.

Unless your wiring harness for your fuel pump is better than the stock one that came in the b-cars (prolly the same) I wouldnt be doing any performance oriented fuel pumps without add on wiring harness.

I just had my walbro/ractronix installed two weeks ago. I like how the fuel pressure sits right where they say it will at WOT, and at idle now I show around 38-39 psi. WOT is 43.5 psi. My stock pump was def. hurting at 159k. I was down to around 32 psi at idle and barely 40 psi at wot. Going to be running a plate kit, so I figured it would be a good thing to do. Who knows, every car is different, jakesz28 is having no issues he says, maybe the next guy would go lean.

The function of the wiring harness is to eliminate the voltage drop to the pump. The wires are much larger in diameter than the factory wiring, and go straight to the alternator. Racetronix advertises 12v (stock) vs. 13.5v (their kit). This should eliminate any fuel pressure drop at WOT.

ok i know this is a really old thread but i am about to cut an access panel and replace my fuel pump, and I was wondering if it would be ok if I replace the whole fuel pump assembly with the racetronix fuel pump assembly without using their wiring harness kit??

they sell a wiring harness with their pump and you can buy one from them that wires straight to the alternator but what im wondering is if the racetronix kit will pug into the factory harness? and if it will supply the pump with enough power to even fuction properly
