Default Can't get my car to launch right at all

I just installed the longtubes and 3" single exhaust. Today I took it to the track, and ran about four times. The best I did was 14.1, around 103 mph and 2.3-4 60'. I know theres plenty left on the table for a bolt on car. I can't get the car to launch without bogging or spinning, its an m6 btw. Anyone have any tips at what rpm to launch at?

ive never messed with trying to get an f body to hook, but basic knowledge tells me that you need more traction if you are spinning . if all your mods are in your sig, then it looks like you have nothing going for you in the way of traction. im not sure what the f body guys are using as far as suspension, but obviously drag radials would help

Your right, your launching does suck. The 60 foot times you posted are terrible. Sounds like you need to put a stickier tire on and find your sweet spot on where to launch. If you could cut your 60' down to a 2.0 or lower you should be in the mid 13's.

it looks like you are on stock 245 street tires. them ***** aint gonna work. lol. you need a torque arm, lower control arms, and some drag radials to hook at the track. if you mess around too long you are liable to hit a wall trying to spin through it.

I would try slipping the clutch around 2-2500 rpms. Also, lower youe air pressure from anywhere between 20 and 30. A guy at the strip had an auto lt1 and got a 1.9 60' just from lowering his pressure to 22psi. He had shitty *** street tires too. last time I went I had the same problem as you. the best 60 ft I've been able to get is a 2.2, but I know there's a way to get better. I'm installing my headers next week. Did you get the race headers or the emissions headers?? I'm getting the basic lt pacestter headers with the y pipe and I'm installing a 3" cutout at the end of the ypipe. I hope I can trp higher too. I imagine you could trap a higher speed if you could get the launch. I'm hoping to trap at least 105 with the headers and open cutout. I have basically the same mods as you. Sometimes though...It just sucks launching. some days are better than others.

1st time at the track...14.2 best. stock
2nd time...13.9 160 thermo
3rd time 14.1 cai, but I did consistently trap higher. about 100mph every run where as before I only trapped there if I launched perfect. there was one good launch, but I missed third gear and lost to a car that got a 13.6 and I was beating him until I missed third, so I know I would have at least a 13.8 or better that run.

I ran a 14.1 with my stock 94 Lt1. Granted it was an auto and I pulled a 2.1 60'. This was also in 70 degree weather. You should try and get some MT Drag Radials. That should solve your traction issues. You should be pulling 13's no prob after that.

What they said! I've got the same car as you I just threw a hood and wing on the car for a better look. Although I have a auto mine ran a 14.1-14.2 when i first got it with no mods and street tires. I added sub-frames, strut tower brace, LCA, MT drag radials and BAM into the 13's I went. Ran consitantly better each time down the track, get a lot of seat time in too so you know how your car will react to the new suspension/tires. The rear won't fish tail as bad with these mods. Your spinning will decrease, and make sure your PSI is 20-22 on the drag radial's you can adjust it as you get more passes down the track and see what works for your car. Good luck!

get sfcs first. no point in twisting anything. launching takes practice...you have to find the sweet spot...and some sticky tires.

sfcs first
