Yea, it is where the fuel line crosses, you cannot so a whole lot, i port my own, i stay on the runners, kina a gasket match to open it up, then i take it in as far as possible, then i will hit it with my stones, from there i use my polishing bits, it is a bit hard with the hardware i use to get the injector dips how i want them till the paper flaps i use ware down a bit, but they fo kina quick at 20,000 rpm, i use allot of them.

yeah you dont want to " gasket match" unless you know EXACTLY how to do it correctly. a slight difference in size is ok IF the intake is smaller port then the head, but NOT the other way around. if you open up the intake and the air comes out the intake and smackes the edge of the head cause its not lined up properly, you got a huge loss there. and noone can properly port match if the heads arent torqued down on the block. differences in block height, or milled heads, or thickness of the head gasket will alter the exact placement of the heads/ports. you can use the int. gasket as a template if you open up your heads port to match the gasket. then use the gasket to indicate where the head ports SHOULD be. but only so as you know NOT to go all the way to the line where the head port is. I tried looking for info on th eexact method and couldnt find it along time ago. so I just cleaned up my intke ports, opened up the throttle body holes, smoothed the entrance points behind the tbody holes, and called it a day.

Id love to see some pics of that thing opened up. so how the hell did you close the intake back up? more pics please. if you got a good way to make a new top (Looks good anways?) and its very functional, then hell yeah, looks like a great idea.

curious, how bad did it look when you "exposed" the runners match (or mismatch?) and what heads do you have?

and where did you get the cold air kit?

Actually there is nothing easy about modifing one of these intakes. Cubic dollars meets strong will.

The runners were not that bad. I had ported it before. Just needed a little up and down machining

The intake? One of ours Cheap effective and easy

You add metal on the outside of the intake just above the injector bosses. That way you can safely remove more material from the roof of the ports.

I have an LE ported/welded intake and that is what was done. I believe its called "raising the roof"

I just try to get it as close as i can, when i remove the intake i use the carbon build up to really see where it is going to match up, works pretty well so far.

I understand, cutting the top off would be easy. what did you do to reseal it back up? I can kinda see your alum plate thats been bent to match the top surface, but make it alittle easier for us to see how YOU did it then more people would be wiling to do something like that. I can def. see the benefits of getting it PERFECT.

Well...Start by cutting the top off...see top of pic

Then look inside

My intake was highly modified and I am about $600 in welding alone. My Guy is good and I can not weld aluminium. there is anouther $500-600 in porting and flow work on and off a flow bench. Plenum volume is about 2/3s more then stock.

the top plate was made that way for porting and flowing purposes only. It is Bolts and siliconed back on.

The attatched pics are from the LT4 intake we did
