Default best cam for stock heads?

what is the best cam for stock heads? also which valve springs? Porting the stock intake worth anything. Are there any aftermarket intakes? will I need larger injectors with the cam?

thanks

that is a question you will have to answer for yourself. The cam you will want is what suits the purpose of the car. also the valve springs will depend on the cam. you can port the stocker if you want. injectors are not mandatory until you do headwork or more cubes.

Just to getcha a basic idea of cam size on stock heads, and injectors. Im running a Comp XFi 230/236 .571/576 113Lsa on stock heads, and Ijectors, now to me it's a pretty big cam, very agressive street cam im my opinion, but I'm very happy with it..

Yea, i would also recommend turning to AI for a cam. I will also admit though that my car is an unusually good running car for a cam only car so i wouldnt expect 359 from every LT1 similar to mine but i do think that 340RWHP should be a good average goal for this cam. I was extremely pleased with my numbers especially with my ignition issues.

Do you have an Fquick or any sound clips of your car? I saw your car at G11 and Myrtle Beach this summer. Never got to hear it though

What was the cost for the cam itself, not including the other hardware to complete the job? And + 1 for a video too.

I don't think the XFi would be called crap, Mine made 356rwhp cam only, that right there made me happy and pretty much says it "performed" as you would say

hitech makes a pretty sick cam for the lt1 called the gunslinger they have two stages of it too. with stock heads the stage one will be plenty. you go much further and it wont make any difference because of the heads.

and it runs what????

dynos are interesting but are not a measure of performance.
Your numbers SAE or STD?

A lot of people blindly defend whatever they have done as being great without and measured proof.

um, he ran 8.31 in the 1/8th... You don't need an aftermarket cam or even a lightweight car to do that.

Hell, your car ran 8.39 with stock heads, a tight converter, 3.42s and the ZZ3 cam!

Mine was running right, the dyno graph shows some pretty serious opti issues for him.
I also had a negative DA and ran 81.xx mph.

yea, i very reluctantly put up my 1/8th mile time because it has a hell of a lot more in it. Valve train was all to ****, you can see the blue smoke puff when i shift gears not to mention a 2.1 60' isnt going to get you a good et anyways. No dyno tune at the time, no opti, not a good launch, and shifting at about 6100-6200 since i didnt really know where the cam peaked which is now evident that it pulls through 6700. Talk all you want about my e/t's, yea they suck for what the car is capable of but with the shitty track prep here and my wimpy 10 bolt dont expect much of an improvement really, ill get my car out again simply to mph it then move on from there and work on making it track friendly. Old valve train i could fell the car kind of fall on its face 6300ish, last night i winded it back up to 6700 and it pulled hard all the way through, i should probably shift at 7K but i dont want to wind the motor that high. Not to mention the car is streetable as hell. So essentially i would ignore my current track times, the dyno only shows part of the pictures, there were a lot more factors (including my driving) which caused me only to get a 8.31 the very first and only time its been down the track.

I would fix all issues and get back on the Dyno to see where the motor is really at peak performance. Not doubting you but pulling all the way to 7000 grand with stock heads is probably not happening. Most LT's and LS1's with aggressive CAM and HEADS only peaked at app 6000-6300 where the owners THOUGHT that the car was pulling all the way to 7000. You are spinning the motor for nothing, even yet go to the track, do a couple of runs to 7000 then start trying lower RPM shifts, 200 less at a time and see what your MPH is, That will tell you. Do not go by E.T. as there are too many anmolies that contribute to this. Good Luck!!

I ran a hotcam for a while even used it in a 383 and ran 12.08 at 113 with 3700 race weight and no suspension on nittos.

CC503/CC305 are good cams too.

havn't had the chance to take it to the track yet with the cam been having some trans issues, and it was SAE corrected
