difficlutly with timing chain and reluctor
So I've got my new motor and after I get the timing chain on, theres a little three pronged reluctor ring looking thing thats supposed to go on the crank after the gear, I assume its for a crank shaft sensor or something, and the ring will slide on the shaft but the key that keys the crank gear isn't long enough to make contact with the reluctor ring, so it just spins freely on the crankshaft. I'm struck, I want to start wrapping this project up and running into little stuff like this pisses me off lol.. I've searched the Mitchel program, Shbox, Google, no luck, every diagram I find doesn't even show this piece.
Car's a 1996 btw.

No but I do have the second key way, no key in it. When I slid the crank gear back on the old crank ( still in old block ) there was still a little nub for the reluctor to sit on..

I think there is a difference in timing gears between 94 and 95. The gears with the ring are a little thinner. That is part of the problem with using a vented opti on early LT's.
But I could be wrong.
Measure the thickness of the two gears.
