Help.......Someone tell me whats wrong
Ok my car is in my sig but it wont start sometimes. It turns over fine but just wont fire up, then when it actually does fire it will run fine till it warms up and then it seems as if there is a rev limiter around 3500rpm and the warmer it gets the lower the rpms get.It will spit and sputter and wont ever clear out. Im lost so please let me know your thougths thanks

92 and 93 are still the same opti setup as the 94+ Save for minor things that changed after 95.
As for your problem, that's a bit odd. I wonder if getting warm isn't exactly the cause, but the time is. What I mean is, it'll get warm in X amount of time, and the run time is draining the battery and the alt isn't doing it's job. So w/o enough power, it's not going to be able to let it rev.
I don't know, I'm just spitting out any idea.

I have a similar problem. Did you check your fuel filter or fuel pressure? Two easy things to do. Mine is a 93 as well. Does it do anything funny at idle? Check battery with a voltmeter and rev it a bit see what happens. It should read 14. Also what is your oil pressure like?

does it do anything weird at idle? Usually when it heats up? Here is an easy check whether you have a bad pcm or not. Start your car and let it idle. Tap on the top of your pcm vigourosly with your fingers while the car is running. If the car stumbles while you are tapping on it. It is most likely the computer. You can get it checked by a dealership. This is right out of the Haynes manual.

ok guys thanks for the info. i replaced the fuel filter last week so that should be ok. the battery is ok and the alternator charges good along with great oil pressure. Is there any way that the opti could cause this. It so weird i took the car out today for about 15min and kicked it while it was warm and it reved to 5200 fine and then started popping but then after about 10min it wouldnt go any higher than 4000 rpm so im still lost. the coolant temp sensor is also fine i checked it today
by the way the car has no egr or any emmisions in that case everything has been deleted and it has lt headers and ory

Launching!
Sounds to me like your TPS died or is going out. Reasons that lead me to this are as follows:
1. Rev limit symptom - dead giveaway for a TPS failure.
2. Starting problems.
3. Idle issue.
