If you had stock heads, intake, and cam on a built lower end and pushed 30lbs of boost into it you would be flowing enough air to blow the crank out of the motor. I've got 10lbs going into home ported heads and intake with a mild cam and it's putting out a little over 600hp so think about the power you would be making with 30lbs.

If you dont know, you dont need to be trying to make 30 pounds of boost.

Probably be safest to run like a billet piece.

What about lunati or callies, they seem to be the best off the shelf stuff from what Ive seen.

If memory serves you come from a rice backround correct?

Do you understand boost is how much air IS NOT getting into the cylinders?

30psi may be common on modded rice but not on V8s, Combination Motorsports low 9 second heavy Impala was only running 28-30psi. Another 9 second Impala with a close mph but runs BIG heads and more displacement and half the boost, the engine is moving the air rather than restricting it.

To move enough air into a V8 to have it get restricted enough to build 30psi a blower belt will be a problem, they will not last because of the massive amount of hp it takes to drive a supercharger to compress that much air.

You need to step back and gain a better understanding of how all this works. A 355 with good heads(even ported stockers) and cam will make more power than can be handled on the street with 15psi. Now you leave the heads stock as cast and that same 15psi and I bet there are heads and cam cars that will give you a run for your money.

A few years ago I met a guy with a turbo Impala cracked a piston so he went .030 over and forged pistons but stoc heads and cam still 12psi and alky and ran 12.8, he had the supporting drivetrain too. Nice car and I loved that he drove it, salt stains on the hood pad proved it. At the time I was very impressed, but today with the heads available to us now, the tables have turned. If I lined up against that same car today my NA car would be faster. It was an October day he went 12.8 and I have done that at 105f in june.

Engines are about airflow boost os to overcome restriction to airflow, JUST using boost to overcome it is a losing battle, you need to combined it with reduced restriction and in that case you can move a lot more air=HP without a big parasitic boost number.

You can run 30psi with a turbo setup, but you are goin to need head studs, prolly a high dollar callies crank, forged 8:1 pistons, and some sick heads. An Lt-1 block will not handle that boost unless maybe you fill it with concret. Just assumption here I am no expert at this level!

it doesnt take 30psi of boost to go 9's. more like 14......

and if you want to make lots of boost, you want smaller, crappier heads. better ones will drop boost.

9's and 30 psi boost on a v-8 don't even go together. 10 - 13 psi will get you there at full weight no problem, depending on engine combo. 30 psi on a well-built v-8 will go 7's.
