Hooof - loaded question. There are a good number of threads here and on other boards about this. I read them all before I rolled the dice and purchased a unit on ebay (which many other people also purchased and had failures with). You are going to find loyalties, praises and knocks for almost every aftermarket brand. For security sake - all roads seem to lead back to GM. I think you will find the least problems with a stock unit.

Now, let the comments begin.

GM replacement would be my first answer.

I bought an MSD optispark

it has been fine for 5K miles

I rag on the car everyonce and a while and it has held up all the way to hitting the redline

everyone is reporting problems, but most of the time they had problems were due to improper installation of the o-ring

its a great unit, I have powerwashed it, no leaks no sputtering and I just turned it on about 10 minutes after powerwashing the engine, no problems, no leaks

alot of people are going to come in this thread and claim this and that from what they have heard, so be careful.

Oh, and BTW, my ebay purchase is still holding up (Knock wood). So maybe there is some merit to installation problems???

And yes, I am just passing along what I have read. And I have followed opti threads very closely in the past couple of months.
