Default dissapointed in my dyno # with cc306 cam

well i dynoed my z28 last week and it put down 311 rwhp and 358 rwtq stopped at 5900 rpms it could have gone up to 6200. my mods are cc306 cam, long tubes, 3 inch y,1.6 rollerrockers,918 beehive springs,tb bypass, cai, electic waterpump, pcm 4 less tuned before i got longtubes, msd wires, coil, and msd cap and rotor. do my dyno numbers match up with my mods? when i did my stock dyno with just a cold air, coil and exhaust i put down 274 rwhp and 317 rwtq so i expected more with all my new mods.

Dont sweat it... I've got most of the same or similar stuff as you and an almost stock cam that made 316/354 (still untuned).... you definitely have more in yours... So... your saying you got it tuned after the cam? if not, you shouldn't need us to tell you that the tune will make a diff. Also, like said,.. your not revving it up enough to see that cams peak numbers.

He really needs a tune first, dont throw more parts at an obvious problem because in the end he wont be happy with the money he spent for less than optimal progress. If you throw heads on the car they way it sits it will make 330 or something ridiculous. You dont need the TB right now either, I've been running a 52mm and going 11.70s At 117-118 on motor in a 383. Just get a dyno tune from someone who is decent with LT1s and you will pick up lots of power, probably 30rwhp.

I think you def. need a dyno tune. My power peaks at just about 6k which I know sounds fairly low for this cam. I only had the dyno place run the car to 6200k anyway since it's trails down slightly there after. The rev limiter is set for 6500k because it still makes power past that...just not peak power. I make 380rwhp and 370rwtq with my mods below.

^^^^^^^

Besides the point that 306 is not a good cam for stock heads, you need better flowing heads and to spin it high as hell. 5900 wont do it.

Numbers do seem low, and as other stated you can run the engine higher and get retuned. If you did a mail order tune send them a data log. i did this with Alvin ( PCM4less chip car tuner ) and he did an awesome job.

I did a 847 cam and Mac shorties, loudmouth, CIA and PCM tune and it put down just under 350HP at 6400 RPMS.

my car is tuned for the cc306 cam and my rev limiter is set at 6200, but i just installed longtubes about 3 months ago and i have not sent my computer back in for any tuning for them. but i just started my new job where i dynoed my car so they let me dyno my car myself so this was the first time i have ever dynoed a car and i only took it to 5900, i should have went to 6200. do you think there could be major hp gains between 5900 and 6200?

thanks

That was a pretty stupid statement, Ion (madz28) tuned my car mailorder and Jeremy Formatto couldnt pick up a SINGLE hp or lb tq. All he did was pull some timing out of it, and the car made the same hp. Didnt change my track times at all, just made it a little safer on nitrous. Maybe you just dont know the right people to use for mailorder

Actually, that little bit more rpm would make a difference. I thought my power was down almost 25rwhp when it was dyno'd at the same place and same dyno but the guy didn't rev it to where I wanted him to.

spin it up to at least 6300 with stock heads... if you wanted to peak at 5900 you should have stuck with a cc305

Whats was his mods smart one? A mail order tune will work for some and not always others, kind of like a crap shoot. This was my point, so pull your lip over your head and swllow!
