I've been kicking up the idea myself...
I have thought about using an LS1 powersteering pump and resevoir (that's all mounted together) and mount it low on the drivers side, while running a typical low-mount setup on the passenger side for the alternator. this would require the use of an underdrive pulley set like March makes, where you still retain the stock balancer, but you put a new pulley in behind it..
haven't had much time to mock-up any brackets to write a program for yet, but as soon as I find a spare shortblock laying around I'll give it a try.

Dammit, I should just come over there and work with you guys. I used a pump from a 92 skylark, pulley from a 98 sunfire, and a high pressure hose from a 95 4.3 1500 which needed to modification BTW.

FWIW, that damn silver car nearly caused me to sell mine after the gathering. It is amazingly sick how clean that car was done. I can only imagine what he's got in store this year.

yes, sickening is the perfect way to describe it. I love a clean engine bay, i try to remove everything i can, and i think its safe to say the same for you, but that engine bay just doesn't compare haha. We'll one day catch up, that car has been steadily worked on and gone through a lot of stages the past 10 years so our time will come

Bear in mind, these pics are an extremely, way way prematurely advanced mockup of my engine project. (Please excuse the dust.)
This accessory setup cost me a little over a grand, but you can get it about $200 cheaper if you go with polished over chrome. (Polished block, heads, headers, intake, timing cover, optispark, and water pump not included.)
The company that sells this is a non sponsor, but whoever's interested can PM me for info.

It's a show polished stock LT1 block. Cast iron is a really striking metal when it's polished up right:
I'll have about 220 hours worth of my own polishing labor into this motor before it's all said and done.
