Question Power adder decision?

Ok i have a 96 LT1 Trans am with a newly rebuilt 355 with a bunch of bolt ons this car is my daily driver and am heading of to college next fall of 2008 so right now im used to what i have and i want to go faster and i have come acrossed a couple of deals. I have a budget around $1500. then one of my friends wants to paint my car (it could use it since the car has 140000 miles on the body) so what do i do?


New Motor (355 LT1) with an M6 Transmission

4.10 gears in newly completly rebuilt 10-bolt
SVO 30lb injectors
58mm throttle body
K&N filter, Ramair intake box
Aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator
3 inch exhaust
pacesetter headers
High Fow Magnaflow Cats
Taylor Wires
Drilled and Slotted Rotors
metalic brake pads
MSD Distributor
New Clutch
Skip shift eliminator

with $1500 u could do a h/c. don't know of any sc for anywhere close to $1500. look into a le h/c package, that is if u can do the install.

i say turbo. im building my own rearmount kit and so far im under 800 bones on everything. will be close to 1000 when i get the 12v oil scavenge pump and my vband style down pipe. then when i take it to speed inc in chicago to get it tuned ill be right at 1500 with dyno time and the gas to get there.

well i came acrossed a deal on a supercharger for that and yes i can install it i put motor and everything in myself

Where did you find a supercharger for $1500? Unless your talking about the one forsale in the texas section.

DO heads cam, I think this is a more reliable way to go. I use to own a procharger dont listen to the hype, there is alot more maintnence involved with a procharger.

the way gas prices are the best way is to supercharge or turbo

Take it to a real detail shop, or a body shop and have the really restore the paint..

Not of the handwax crap can touch what a pro can to do restore a cars finish

PowerDyne is a total POS blower compared to vortech or ATI

I said heads & cam assuming your running stock H/C now. Maybe even just a cam, RR's, valve springs, and hardened pushrods... All that and a good tune would soak up that $1500. Might consider upgrading the stock fuel pump since you did the FPR and injectors already.

I agree.

White 96LT1: Xtreme Horspower in North Richland Hills has a cam and install deal. It comes with Cam,springs,pushrods tune for X dollars. I believe its around $1500 but you will have to call them and see.

i would save up a lil bit more money and do a quality head cam job... have ur intake and heads ported at AI and get a good cam to match it....

AGREED!!! I run a procharger and love the power --- but it comes at a cost......and you don't need that when you are heading off to college.
