Default Lt1 vs evo

How would my 97 TA (A4) with moroso lt4km longtube headers fair vs a stock 03 evo 8?

I would say you would edge him out if the evo was stock. I have never seen a stock evo!

I'd say he'd rape you. . .low end and top - you might be able to keep on him for a little bit but then again none of the evos here are stock and it depends on if he has a boost controller. . .or any tricks up his sleeve

you'll pull on him at top end, but from a dig it'll be tough to stay with him... make sure to let us know what happens

It would be a good race... The evo 8's aren't that fast until you mod them so you should have him. You will have top end but it should be pretty close until you hit 60. Off a launch he will have you.

Not sure what KriegerEhre is saying??? He will have you top end, thats weirdd cause evo 8's only came with 5 speeds.

What do I know though, I had a STi and lots of my friends have evos...

he can pretty much pop the clutch from a dead stop and he's still gonna jump with the awd. sooo, to have the best results from a dig, do your best not to spin on take off. from a roll i think you'd have him.

i ran a modded yellow EVO from the dig and he put it me,as i am sideways, peddaling he was across the intersection roughly 5 full cars ahead of me when i got it together i started making up the ground but not enough!
so at this point i would say you NEED TIRE and a 75 shot would not be a bad idea either.

I know its not an Evo, but i raced a kid at my tech. school (Ranken) and it was close. He has a 240 ZX with a 6 banger and 14psi on a turbo. My car is stalled (3600), longtubes/x-pipe, and drag radials with LCA's. We raced in his prime gear (2nd) and he only put a half a car on me. I tired to get him to do a dig but he said no cause of my tires even though i didnt take any pressure out. Either way i thought my car ran pretty strong for mostly stock car. Of course he came back with the typical ricer excuses like i spun and all that. But now i have a bottle on the car so we'll see how he likes my 100 shot.

From a dig your toast. If you can talk him into a roll youll have a better shot at it. If you were stalled with a tire youd have an even better shot at him. With a mild cam and "small" stall and a full exhaust I put lengths on an evo 8. Then again, thats kind of off topic. Im probably only making 300-320 at the tire (never been on a dyno) If your a bone stock a4 car your probably closer to 260 at the tire, just for comparisons sake.

nine times out of ten people cannot launch an evo. I tried to do it once with zero experience with awd, and it turned out kinda well, but ended up smelling like clutch. my guess is he is about as good as the average joe and won't launch it crazy, but he will pull you in first gear. you will pass him up top though, because you are making a lot more power and have longer gearing. ever notice how they can hit a low 13 at 98mph - well your car should trap higher than 100 stock, and with all your goodies 103-104, so good luck!

What do you mean "evo's". There's almost a second differeance in 8's and 9's.9's are solid low 13 second cars stock...8's arent.

My girls mom owns an evo 9. The thing is pretty nice for a daily. But yeah, they will deff have you off the line. They have a stock 5500rpm 2 step built in, once you hit it you just have to feather the clutch and it launches pretty good. But up top they have alot of drivetrain loss seeing as how its awd. From a roll, minor bolt ons will have you jumpin ahead, but from a dig its a totally different story. Stock, those cars will bog before they spin the tires, i mean DEAD HOOK. I have yet to race her, but i have no doubt that i would stomp her from a roll.

But hell, if you really wanna know.... just race one.
(They run 13.5's from the factory)

GEARS. With the 323 you dont have much of a chance. I have taken out a few modded evos, but I have had some bring me back to reality. Sux when the bottle is dry.

You will lose. Sad to stay but on the street he will own you on the launch and I don't think you will have enough power to come around.

Right after I did this heads and cam I ended up running against the same Evo repeatedly one day. He had a few boltons and said he was running 23psi, he never had a snowballs chance, was running 13.1-3 I was running more like 12.6 that day.
