The top sprocket on the timing chain for the earlier roller cam 350 has no provision for driving the water pump. If you use an electric water pump, the early chain will work after a little grinding on the inside of the timing cover.

That will only work if you have a 95 or later LT1 with a vented opti.

You have a 94, so the opti is also driven by your cam gear. Thats why you can only use a normal LT1 timing chain. If you convert to a vented opti setup and an ewp, you can use a normal SBC double roller chain.

lol Can't you just drill a hole by placing the old one over the new one, and then clamping them together?

How many miles are on the car? Chances are your stock sprockets are fine. Just go to the GM dealer and order up a new chain. Should be $40-$60 I would guess.

I did h/c two years ago with my camaro, replaced timing chain, all sprockets with new original oem from GM. NO PROBLEMO! Handling 6700 rpm shift points, even with 150 shot of giggle juice AND I still have this 10.44 @130 GRIN on my face!

+1 for just the chain. If there is no excessive wear on your sprockets
get just a chain.

If the gears look OK just order a replacement chain (10128485 for a 96LT1) from GMPartsDirect.com
Costs $28.12 +shipping
You can't go wrong with original GM stuff.
