Default Air Pump???

Ok, I have the stock LT1. I'm about to put new headers on my car, and I was curious...the AIR system on my car (Secondary Air Injection System)....is it necessary? If I replace my headers and exhaust system, can I jut straight up get rid of that thing??? Or can I even do it now? What will it hurt? I know it is used to help emissions...input?

I've heard that you'll have to tune it to run without certain emissions components. I'm not sure if this is one of them that would affect it or not.

I'd like to know what can be deleted without having to tune the car, I'm in the same position.

Removal of the air system will not provide any real performance improvement, just a reduction of 7# of weight. And, the engine looks a lot neater w/o it.

Removing the air system will generate a DTC and SES. Therefore, you'll need to get the DTC programmed out.

I'm not trying for performance, just to get rid of the extra parts. It will be pointless with my CAI and my headers there instead of the stock parts it used to hook up to. I just wanna make sure its not gonna **** something off. I am getting my car tuned in Lubbock this Feb to fix EVERYTHING it hasnt been tuned for yet...

I deleted the AIR and EGR when I did my headers. Then madwolf tuned it out for me. I would say to do it. Frees up some space in the already cramped engine bay.

Next to go on my list will be the ABS!

I tuned out AIR and EGR and just removed everything and corked up holes.
