For those of you who have torn your cars apart... What are these?
Can someone explain to me what these are? I have torn the dash and just about everything else out this poor car can ran across a few things that i have no idea what they are... Can anyone point me in the correct direction? Sorry about the supersized pictures and for what it is worth.. i believe that the second one is having something to do with airbags...
thanks
stan
Found on the inner side of the dash passenger side with the glove box light wrapped in the same loom.
Posssibly airbag gibberish...
This little guy is behind the rear seat cushion driver's side.
this one under the dash right by the passenger side door jam.
These guys are under the middle of the dash.
thanks

Off the top of my head.... if it has those bright yellow tabs or connectors then it is related to the air bag system.
As for "This little guy is behind the rear seat cushion driver's side." - that is the wiring for the fuel pump - it is important

2nd one is the airbag computer
First one I think is either the VATS box or a power window box.
The one by the rear seat is just a bulkhead to run wiring under the car for things like the fuel pump/sender, abs, trac control, whatever
I think those other misc black boxes are for windows or door locks or maybe vats or something like that, but it's been a while since I've torn apart an LT1 car.

Whats been stated allready, and the fourth picture is the keyless entry receiver. The fifth picture shows the express down module to the left, and to the right, the retained accesory power module.

I could be mistaken, but I believe number four is the BCM (Body Control Module). This contains the keyless entry receiver among other things. It also controls windows, power door locks, antitheft, and dome lights among other things.

So i guess what i have gathered from all this is that i can keep the airbag box out (#2). everything else stays.
im still kinda shaky on the number 1 picture... aram stated that it is possibly a VATS box (which im not sure i know what that is) . can anyone confirm that and tell me if id be better off splicing it back into the system?
thanks a bunch guys
