Default T-56 & high H.P. LT-1 combinations

What experiences have you encountered with the 6-speed after putting some power to them? Also, is anyone using a "two-step" when launching their T-56 car?

I'm using a two-step with my T-56 but I'm only pushing about 450hp to the wheels.

94 Formula - Is your two-step activated by a switch when the clutch is dis-engaged and becomes inactive once the clutch pedal is released?

I'd like to know about this also 94 formula. Where can you get these two-steps?

As Taner mentioned, there are several types of two-steps available. I am running a Big Stuff-3 system and it has a built-in two-step. I was just curious as to how well it worked for our type of application as I am still finishing putting my junk together.

Taner - Based on your 60' times and ET, I would imagine you've "field tested" the durability of the T-56 a few times. I'm curious as to what the "weak links" are and what you've done to "upgrade" them? Any insight would be appreciated.

whatever you do stick with oe gear sets. from a mild build up, not too hard on the wallet, viper fork, billet keys, good synchro's, and i am a believer in cryogenic freezing.

for a larger budget, do the viper output shaft conversion. you can still snap the output shaft with good power and a dead hook.

that will satisfy most gear bangers. running tens or even into the nines.

next step is too call Liberty's Gears or Joe and Amber at Six Speeds Inc. Craig has helped put together a reliable combo which has seen probably over 1000 lbft. and over 900 rwhp. i know joe and amber could have done the same thing. Liberty's is 20 minutes from my house! which is a huge benefit for me!!! but at this point it gets really expensive.

Thanks for the input Taner. I've heard some mixed opinions with regard to what the T-56 is able to withstand. Spoke to one shop that supposedly has a upgade "kit" that they claim is good up to approx 800 hp with the cost being somewhere in the $3500-4000 range!!! I told them for that kind of money, I would consider a Lenco or a Bruno trans. I'll talk with Six Speeds.

I use a 2 step wired to a switch along with the line locks. I use the adjustable rpm dial to change from burnout to launch rpm.

I rewired the clutch start switch for the two step. This way it's only active when the clutch is held to the floor.

I'm using the MSD DIS-4 Plus w/ Delteq.

avoid dig racing..on the street is fine but at the track you are going to have an issue someday...but who cares auto's break too. Other then that taner's got it right, but i got a lot more then 1000rwhp if i turn it up....right now the tranny has everything you can do to it except an aftermarket gear set and face-plating and I think a factory set is better anyway. IF you are serous about drag racing at a track then just go auto...you will be faster that way.....

Taner, I rebuilt my transmission this fall and did everything you said minus cryo treating the gearset and the Viper shaft. I did bend my output shaft when the driveshaft broke but I cheaped out and got another stock one. We'l see how she holds up.

It's just another rev limiter activated by a switch. Say you want to launch at 4000 rpm you set the 2 step to 4000 rpm and hook it up to a switch (clutch pedal switch usually) and when the clutch is down or switch is on the rev limiter is at 4k. It can help build boost on a turbo car as well since there is some load on the motor when it's "bouncing off the rev limiter"

It would probably work fairly well on an automatic as well. If you're looking for consistency.
