hmm I would get a tune for it, replace the o2 sensor and of course hook it up then make sure the pcv system is working. I think that would solve the problem.

It needs all the Sensors working first, then definately a Tune.

full throttle power has nothing to do with the 02s, they are only used for part throttle mixture feedback. ide say it needs a tune

I would really start with the o2 sensors . That is what fine tunes your fuel mixture it cant do that without them hooked up. The car probally ran fine until he screwed the plugs. Which is another thing I would change. A get it tuned just because it will run without a tune doesn't mean you don't need one. People pick good power on bolt-on cars with a good tune.

Te MAF system copes with mods witho0ut tuning bettrer because it measures airflow. The speed density system does not and is more tune sensitive.

It is also downright stupid to try and cam a car but not want to tune it. Moving it around the driveway or stuff like that is one thing but to think the cam swap is the end of the modification means you need to put down the wrench and back away.

A cam without a tune will gain you probably only about what a tune alone would have gained you but at a much higher price and risk. The tune is just as important as the cam.

To be honest the first place I would start is to make sure the opti is splined in correctly. If it is a splne off it will act like this also. It is is off the other way it will rev pretty fast but ping like a ****.

All the other info here is good also Just pointing out some thing that Is easy to miss and I have seen people miss personaly

Easy for most of us to forget about the splines opti drive good point.
I have only ever handled one once and it was a PITA compared to the pin drive.

ok i know it needs a tune but before i have him spend a couple of $100 on a tune i want it to run right. theres no point in tuning a car thats not running right and the 02 wasnt hooked up so i got him to do that first and now it runs at 500 rpm instead of 1000rpm and i had him unplug his pvc so thats right. i dont think it was the opti ive delt with them before and they are a bitch but its on right. thanks for the input
