LT1 Borla Exhaust Clips - Outside and Inside car + Burnout!
Hey guys,
well I know myself and I am assuming many others wonder what the LT1 cars sound like with certain exhausts..and LS1sounds.com is a great site, but it is mostly great for LS1's obviously.
Comming from previously owning an LS1 with a Borla Cat-back on it, and now having an LT1 with the same exhaust, I can say that the sound is similar, but also very different.
We all know LT1's and LS1's sound different, so I thought I would share my exhaust clips I made to help others out in making a decision on an exhaust for their LT1 cars.
Also when it comes to exhaust sounds, a car at an idle and reving it doesn't always tell much, what I find tells the most is when the car is being driven, (thats what others hear all the time anyways) so I thought having clips of both startup, reving, and also an easy take off and shifting through a few gears will really show what the sound is like in every circumstance.
I also have an in car video of Wide open, and of normal driving I will upload soon and post, just give me a day or so. And I have a burnout video I will share here also. All of this should give a GREAT example of what the sound is like in almost any circumstance. (only thing I don't have at the moment is Wide open outside the car while shifting through the gears..I will work on that and try to get that posted in here also for you guys)
My setup for exhaust is stock manifolds, Stock Y-pipe and cats, and a Borla Adjustable Cat-back system. I have other mod's on the car obviously, but for exhaust that is it, so you guys all know what you are hearing.
Hope this is helpful for some people, I know I wish I had something like this when I research exhaust sounds!

10 feet behind the car - that is NOT indicative of what other folks around you
are hearing. They are either standing up, outside of any car, and listening as
you drive by; and if they're in a car, they are at least 3 feet+ high and next to your
car at best. (If behind, they wont hear the same sound as if beside you/behind).
I can't remember the last time I layed on the ground listening to a car's exhaust
Thanks for the effort - I've been contemplating Borla.

Good Write up and clips!!.
You can also add an E-cutout from DMH instead of using the borla plates and then you can do this on the fly:

You can see more pics of what I am talking about on my site here:

Wow, I have not posted on here in a long time, but I wanted to do so now to let you know that you did a GREAT job with these video clips. In fact, these are the best clips I've ever heard of a Borla cat-back on an otherwise stock LT1. And I've been frequenting boards like this for eight years now! You covered all situations (idle, revs, WOT, and normal acceleration inside/outside the car) and it sounds just like it does in person. Plus, that burnout was sweet too!
I love the sound of Borla on an LT1 when the rest of the exhaust set-up is stock, but too bad I think it sounds horrible once you add LT headers and/or ditch the cats. It just becomes so raspy and metallicy sounding, and loses the deeper tone...

^^^ Thanks man, I am glad you, along with others like the clips. I got sick and tired of never being able to find clips that showed what I wanted to hear, so I just did it myself, lol.
I agree that this catback with headers and no cats does not sound too good, unless you put some resonator's or bullet mufflers in the I-pipe to get rid of the rasp, but it is fine, since I have no plans to put on Headers anytime soon!
