4l60E from pro-buil.net over 4 years old.

http://www.finishlinetrans.com/ does good work too as does Rossler

The 4L60E gets a bad rap because there are few guys who take the time to build it right, most just try and thow expensive parts at it.

4L60E built by a local shop runs fine. the best thing about getting a tranny built locally is that IF anything goes wrong with it you don't have to take it out and ship out of state to the guys who built it. if you get it built locally do your research though and ask around at the track. however there are some sponsors on this site that do some great work like FLT and CPT haven't really heard a bad thing about either of em.

IF and it is a big IF you can find a local guy with PROVEN results of a 4L60E in a performance application that would be a good choice but they are very hard to come by. Lots of shops claim to be able to do it, lots of them blowup in a year too.

Still have my stock 4L60, has a Vigi 3200 in it. If it dies I may builder another, probably be cheaper to go the TH350 route though, weekend car so fuel economy doesn't matter.

FLT, with a Yank SS3200.

Why? Because I wanted a high-quality 4L60E - customer service is 2nd to none.

I have a local guy that rebuilt my 700R4, it runs like a champ with a EDGE 3400 stall converter...He guaranteed it to withstand around 600-650 hp, but he said he was being cautious...His usual builds are th350, powerglides, etc.

CPT Pro Race 4L60E w/ Fuddle Racing HP/Street 9.5" 3400 Stall. Combo has roughly 12-1300 miles on it. Up for sale. Turning car back to stock. Maybe we can work something out if your stock trans is in good shape. PM me if interested.

i would take him up on his offer... CPT does some of the best rebuilds in the business for 4l60e's.... i think most guys try to stick with the 4l60e because it has the overdrive and not as expensive then a 4l80e

Running the, presumed, stock 4L60 (700R4) still @ 96K, firm shifts, drives great. The quite firm shift makes me curious if it has been rebuilt with a very slight upgrade *shrug*.

Stock 4L60E and converter. I plan on it being the first thing that blows up in the car once it's running. I already plan on building my own 4L80e, brake, and rmvb with a Circle D multidisk lockup converter.
